GREG MALONE- Tampa Bay Lightning

Chuck Grillo says, "I've never seen two people in Greg's and Glenn's  positions be so committed in a youth setting.  They are very special pros." Both men simply enjoy working with young people. It's been a real treat to watch these guys walk on to the training camp and earn the respect of the entire staff and all the players. These men  could be major league coaches for any organization if they applied the same attitude and approach to pro.  You can't teach the natural things that Greg and Glenn  possess as mentors on the ice. I've seen a lot of people go through here and none have showed any more potential to coach than these two humble professionals.  Greg is currently the Pro Scout for Phoenix Coyotes.  He said, "My summer at MHC couldn't have come at a better time.  This has helped me to prepare for this season."

BRIAN RILEY - West Point Head Coach

Brian Riley became the 16th head coach in Army hockey history on July 30, 2004, succeeding his older brother, Rob, who retired from the coaching profession. Riley is just the third head coach in the past 56 years of Army hockey and carries on a tradition within his family of college coaching that began more than five decades ago.

Riley’s father, Jack, started it all in 1951 when legendary football coach and athletic director at West Point, Earl “Red” Blaik, hired the firey Irishman to head the hockey program. What began as a one-year contract, turned into a 36-year Hall of Fame career that culminated in 542 victories. Riley’s brother, Rob, took the reins from his father in the fall of 1986 and racked up 306 victories of his own over the past 18 winters.  When Rob officially stepped down in the summer of 2004, he passed the torch (and family tradition) on to his younger brother.  MHC welcomes Coach Riley to the family and hopes he continues to return.

CHUCK WHALEN - Brainerd High School

Chuck gets the nod as the "old pro" on the staff. Chuck has been with the program since day one. He is unique in his abilities because he can serve as a goaltender specialist, power skating instructor and head coach. His experiences are many but he will probably tell you that working with Mike Richter and John VanBiesbrouck head the list of those experiences. He currently works with the skills program in the Brainerd Youth Program and as a head coach  in the Brainerd High School program. We believe he is qualified to work in the NHL because he has proven this over the years while working with the many pros who have trained at the camp. "Whales" is satisfied to live a quality life in the beautiful Brainerd/Nisswa vacation area, with his wife, Marnie, and their two children while doing his duties as an educator in the regular school year and working at the camp in the summers.
